risen from the dead - revisited

While wasting time today at the breakfast table watching my kids eat their oatbran and making sure more ended up in their mouths than on the floor my hands scribbled this doodle on the back of the shopping list. It's not quite the image I had in my head, but its not too bad none the less. There will probably be yet another image like this in the coming weeks, until I finally get the one that I see out on paper.

But for now I am putting this to rest, and finishing up some other work that needs to be done. And tomorrow there are going to be a shit load of guests staying at my place. It very well could be HELL. I'll be sure to let you know.

zombification #1

The above is the first in a series of ZOMBIFICATIONS that I have set out to do. About a week ago I offered to zombify 5 people and they response was awesome. I didn't get to them until today because real life got in the way. Now that things are rotting along quite nicely I am able to get the jobs done. Today we have Eric Weiss from ZOMBIE! .
Tomorrow will feature another zombification ... will it be yours?

In other news, I managed to get the next page up on my zombie webcomic. Take a look and let me know what you think.

exposed

Here's a quick little diddy I made a while back and just colored today. Something quick and easy to warm up to. And now I go and paint the next page of my zombie webcomic.

Hey, how do you like my little reddit and stumble buttons at the bottom? I wish I could customize the digg one. meh.

rob zombie

So it seems that once Rob Zombie found out what was going on he contacted Eric and informed him that the threat is over. Rob Zombie and Eric's ZOMBIE! can co-exist. Rumor has it that Rob then found the lawyers responsible and stuffed their briefcases down their throats. Or up their ______.

Hats off to Rob for being a cool guy. Sorry for the dipshit comment. ;)

wrapped

A doodle to pass the time away at the kitchen table this morning. It nearly worked too, but then the kids started screaming, and after that everything is a blur.

Life is filled with a whole bunch of stuff to do and at times it feels overwhelming. But thats what keeps it interesting. New image coming later today, and hopefully I will get that new webcomic page online.

the latest late page

The newest page of my webcomic the Zombie is online. I had a few delays with this one. My fault for not building a big enough buffer. I plan on getting a few pages done this weekend to make things run smoother. We'll see how that pans out.

I AM NOT FRANK ZOMBIE

Doesn't that sound kind of stupid? My friend Eric Weiss who calls himself ZombieRiot on twitter is potentially being sued by Rob Zombie's lawyers because Eric Weiss has a band by the name of ZOMBIE! and sells a few tshirts with this bands logo and name. There is so much to be said about this its ridiculous. Check out this link here and this other link here for more about this latest idiotic event.

zombie broad

She's kinda cute in that I have my guts hanging out and I'm not ashamed to say it sort of way. Not really a girl you can bring home to mom though. Unless you don't like mom, then you could bring her home, through her in the house, shut the door and walk away listening to the screams. Good thing I like my mom.

Anywho. This is a doodle I did a day or two ago, and wasn't really planning on using. But since today was such a craptastrophy, why not. I didn't quite get the zombie portraits done like I wanted, but its close. Tomorrow for certain there will be at least 1 finished.

I'm also trying to get a few different designs done for the store, and there has been a small interest in getting prints of some of my doodles, or possibly a sketchbook of the undead. That would be awesome, but quite a long way off. Maybe if there is more interest down the road. For now though, sketch on!

grandma ZED

Let's give a big undead welcome for grandma ZED. Or ZEE as them amerikana's pronounce it. She comes complete with floral print dress and a little sag. But when you're so far past your prime that you've become undead, a little sag is expected.

Coming tomorrow, the first official zombie portrait.

And . . . check out theZOMBIE webcomic for the latest page.

waking up is hard to do

Started this image last night while playing yahtzee with the missus. I'm happy to say that I won this time. She won. Again.

Anyways. Drawn on the inside part of the yahtzee box in pen, then a touch of color added. Had to stop because the watercolor on the cardboard causes the ink to bleed.

In other news, I'm opening up a shop and will be selling stuff. A tshirt right now but there are lots of other goodies planned. Most of which will be hand made/drawn stuff. Any requests?

get zombified

I was doing the dishes and I got to thinking. I want to zombify you. Yes you, not your neighbor, you. And I want you to have the final result. So here's the deal. You just need to email me your picture and your mailing address (if you want) and I will draw your picture as a zombie, and paint it too. Nothing huge, just trading card size. And when I'm done I will post it here and mail you the actual image. Just you and 4 others for now. And if you live outside of North America and it costs me a big wad of cash to mail, you might have to wait a little longer so I can scrounge up the $. Sound fun? I'm excited. :)

So get your picture taken in your most favorite pose, and email me.

the middle child

This is my middle child, he wanted me to draw him as a zombie, so I did. He sat kinda still while I drew it, then I painted it. Then as an after thought i took his picture so you could see the mild resemblance.

zombie webcomic page 4

page 4 of my zombie webcomic is up, check it out.

It was a busy weekend where nothing was accomplished yet there was so much to do. I don't know how the hell that happened, but I sure am glad its over. I didn't get much chance to draw or doodle my zombies, so todays update is just a sample image from the latest page of my webcomic called theZOMBIE. Catchy name eh?

It's been really interesting working on this project though, for several reasons. First of which is that I'm not a writer, barely a spellR but this is forcing me to try new things. Secondly, I have no real confidence when it comes to doing something 'finished'. It's so bad in fact that I am scared to start. This has helped me over come that fear and has shown me the third reason that this project is interesting for myself. I am now drawing like Byron Rempel draws, instead of like SOMEBODY else. It's like a weight off my shoulders.

That being said, now I will go and finish off some projects that I have started with others.
Stay tuned. :)

oh, and read my webcomic.

he sleeps with fishes

Or rather, never sleeps with fishes, but who says that? This is just a doodle I did at the breakfast table then colored with some acrylics when I got downstairs. Its fun and therapudic, as well as good practice.

I really need to update my site, and really need to improve my webcomic, which will be updated with a new page later on today. Maybe over the weekend I can get some stuff done, or maybe I can find someone to help me out.

I also need to make some money. Anyone have any ideas on that?

biocranial zombie

This is my 50th post.
Thats pretty cool. I wonder if anyone actually enjoys my doodles or am I just dreaming? Well, whatever, its fun and I'm improving some skills. This one, like my
zombie webcomic, is done with just pen, then watercolors. No second guessing, full on commitment. Really good practice for the actual comic pages I am trying to do with some writer types. Helps build my confidence which seems to get in the way whenever I try to do an actual page. Isn't that whack?

Oh yeah, go enter this contest to win stuff.

the zombie webcomic page 2

For those of you who don't know, I have started a zombie webcomic. I hope to update Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Page 2 is online now, check it here.

oh $#!t

ALWAYS AIM FOR THE HEAD!!

That little tid bit of advice just might save your life, especially if you only have a few shots left. Body shots are fun and entertaining sure, but it won't stop the zombie. In fact, it just might piss it off even more. So remember. Always aim for the head.

In other news, the grim crew folks are still having their contest. Write a paragraph on how you became a zombie and you can win your likeness drawn by one of the Dead Future artists and published in the graphic novel. On top of that awesomeness, you will also get a free copy so you can one up the Joneses.
Go enter right now!!

poor little girl

This is my little girl after getting scratched by a zombie. It took me weeks to find her but I finally found her in an old building just outside of town. At first I thought she was happy to see me again, but when she tried to remove my kidneys, I had to take action.

Back in reality. This is a picture of my first born. She has been wanting me to zombify her for over a week, and I am finally done. This took me a couple of days and was kinda fun. She loves it but my littlest one is a tad freaked out.

the ZOMBIE webcomic

This is a preview image of my newest creation, the ZOMBIE webcomic. It will be updated Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays. I hope it goes somewhere but most of all I hope people enjoy it. Check it out here and please let me know what you think.

guest artist - VENTURE COMICS

Received this in my email today. Talk about a nice start to the week. This dreadful undead fellow comes from the Awesome George Anderson, one of the brains behind Venture Comics. They are currently working on Johnny Superhero, which sounds like its going to be a fun read.
You should go visit them.
